NTPC Dadri stage II dedicated to the Nation

Ours is the fastest growing economy with majority of people living in villages, it is our endeavour to provide electricity to all sections of society at affordable rates said Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson, UPA while dedicating Maharatna NTPC’s National Capital Thermal Power Project Dadri stage II 980 MW to the Nation today in New Delhi In her address Smt. Gandhi said NTPC has emerged as a world class company and it is a matter of pride that the Dadri stage II has been completed in record time of 39 months to meet the power requirements of Commonwealth Games. She emphasised on the need for clean energy for the future and protection of environment for sustainable growth. Smt. Gandhi said NTPC‘s plans for nuclear and renewable sources of energy will add to its culture of innovations. She appreciated NTPC’s green initiatives.

Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Minister of Power informed about the capacity addition program and rural electrification being achieved by collective efforts of both public and private sector companies. Shri Bharatsinh Solanki , Union Minister for State for Power congratulated NTPC for its can do spirit and working towards making India self reliant in Power. Shri Ambeth Ranjan and Mohd. Adeeb. Member of Parliament were also present. Shri P. Uma Shankar, Secretary, Power and Shri Arup Roy Choudury, CMD also spoke on the occasion.

Stage II of NTPC- Dadri project shall meet the power requirement of Commonwealth Games. Later Power generated from NTPC Dadri's Stage –II will be supplied to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

NTPC- Dadri is country's only project having coal and gas based project with total installed capacity of 2637 MW from Coal Based Project consisting of stage I, 840 MW (210 x 4 ) and stage II ,980 MW (490MW X 2) and a 817 MW Gas station.

NTPC has a total installed capacity of 32194 MW and presently has over 17,000 MW capacity under construction at 17 locations. NTPC plans to be a 75 GW company by 2017.
