Clean energy shall be our focus in the power sector and mission shall be 24 hours electricity for all said Shri Narendra Modi,Prime ​Minister of India addressing a huge gathering while dedicating the 1000MW ( 2X500 MW) stage I of Mouda Super Thermal Power Project of NTPC to the Nation in Mouda today in Distt. Nagpur , Maharashtra. With an investment of Rs. 5459 crore in stage I and proposed investment of Rs. 7921 crore for stage II, the project is poised to be the biggest power station of NTPC in the State.

Emphasizing importance of Infrastructure Prime Minister said no country can grow without infrastructure, it is only when we are able to set up infra projects like NTPC Mouda that we can look forward to the growth of the country. He said in present day scenario electricity is the prime mover of the growth of the nation and need of all sections of society, to lead quality life. Our villages come to a standstill in the evening as there is no electricity, even in other areas of the country where electricity is available people get only 4-6 hours in a day.

I consider electricity most important for growth of the country and therefore I am concentrating on this sector since I took over as Prime Minister of the country. Clean energy shall be our focus in the power sector and mission shall be 24 hours electricity for all he said.

In his address he said Electricity not just removes darkness from our lives but also brings industry, employment and prosperity with it. Therefore, it shall be our endeavor to generate electricity from all available sources of power be it wind, solar, coal, gas or waste material. This multi fuel approach will lead us to roof top solar policy where each house holder will be able to generate power for themselves.

He said we are working towards ensuring fuel for our power projects for maximum production of electricity, but we need to use the generated electricity judiciously. He emphasized on saving electricity and suggested that it should be made compulsory topic for students in the schools and taken as a mission by all.

Governor of Maharashtra , Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Rural Development , Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water & Sanitation & Shri Piyush Goyal , Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy alongwith other leaders and dignitaries from the State of Maharashtra, Shri D. Chowdhary, Addl Secy. Power, Govt. of india and Dr, Arup Roy Choudhury were also present

Power from Mouda stage- I is supplied to the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jammu Kashmir and UTs Daman Diu & Dadar Nagar Haveli. Situated in Nagpur Distt. of Maharashtra, the project shall have ultimate capacity of 2320 MW. 1320 MW ( 2X660MW) stage II of the project with target commissioning in the early 13th plan.
