I.J. Kapoor takes over as Technical Member APTEL

Shri Inder Jit Kapoor took oath as Technical Member of Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) today in New Delhi. Before joining the Appellate Tribunal, Shri Kapoor was serving as Director (Commercial), on the board of NTPC Limited for about 7 years.
In an illustrious career in Power Sector spanning over three and half decades, he has made professional contribution in overall management functions including the fields of Commercial, Engineering, Operations, Contracts & Materials Management, Consultancy and Project Management. His professional acumen encompasses engineering, commercial and market orientation, legal and financial soundness, strategic management and business leadership.
A complete Power Professional, having held key important positions in NTPC and having versatile experience in important functions of entire electricity value chain including generation, transmission, distribution ,trading including Power sector of neighbouring countries Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Shri Kapoor is expected to bring momentum into Indian power sector growth profile.
The post of Technical Member in APTEL was lying vacant since Shri Rakesh Nath demitted the office of Technical Member on 20th May 2015.
Shri Kapoor is a Mechanical engineering graduate from Delhi College of Engineering and has done MBA in marketing. He joined NTPC in 1978 as third batch Engineering Executive Trainee (EET) and was the first EET to be on the Board of Directors of the company.
He is a Senior Member, Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, USA and also Fellow of Institution of Engineers, India.
