NTPC to set up 2640 MW power project in Punjab

NTPC Limited the largest power company in the country signed an Memorandum of Understanding with Government of Punjab and Punjab State Power Corporation Limited to set up 2640 MW (4X660MW) coal based Thermal Power Project at Gidarbaha in the State of Punjab. The MoU was signed by Shri Arun Goel, Principal Secretary Power, Punjab, Shri I. J. Kapoor, Director (Commercial), NTPC and Shri K.D.Chaudhary, CMD, Powercom. Shri N.N. Mishra, Executive Director, NTPC was also present.

The Project shall be set up as regional power project by NTPC. This shall be the first power project in the State of Punjab by NTPC.

NTPC , a Maharatna Company presently has an installed capacity of over 32194 MW. NTPC operates over 27 power stations. Currently over 17,000 MW capacity is under construction at 17 projects in 12 states and NTPC plans to become a 75 GW by 2017.
