NTPC signs MOU to set up Polytechnic at Nainital

An MOU has been signed between Govt. of Uttarakhand and NTPC Limited for setting up a Govt. Polytechnic at Kaladungi, District Nainital, and Uttarakhand on 16th November 2009 at Uttarakhand Niwas, New Delhi. This is an initiative of NTPC to ensure availability of quality trained industrial manpower to match the industry requirements in the Country.
The MOU was signed by Shri Rakesh Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Technical Education, Uttarakhand On behalf of the Govt. of Uttarakhand, and Shri Arvind Kumar, GM (I/C), NTPC Hydro Region Headquarters on behalf of NTPC. Shri Rajeev Gupta, Principal Resident Commissioner, Govt. of Uttarakhand and Shri. A.C. Chaturvedi, Executive Director, CSR, Safety and R&R NTPC were also present on the occasion. The proposed CSR initiative by NTPC would have a positive impact on the development of state of Uttarakhand.
As per the MoU, NTPC shall provide financial support to the Govt. of Uttarakhand for meeting one time expenditure for setting up a polytechnic at Kaladungi, Distt. Nainital.
The financial assistance from NTPC shall be fully utilized for the stated purpose within a period of 3 years from the date of release of the 1st installment.
The polytechnic once established would be imparting Diploma courses in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronic and Communication Engineering and Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
NTPC is presently executing three hydro projects in Uttarakhand and one in Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier also NTPC had launched new Courses in 12 NTPC adopted and 6 New Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) at various locations in the vicinity of NTPC power stations .
