R.S. Sharma CMD NTPC Awarded Fellowship by IEI

CMD, NTPC Limited, Shri R.S.Sharma has been awarded prestigious Fellowship of Institution of Engineers India (IEI) for his outstanding contribution to the Indian power sector.
The fellowship was conferred on him by Shri Madan Lal , President ,The Institution of Engineers (India), in the presence of Baroness Sandeep Verma, Minister in Government Whips Office , House of Lords, UK, Shri Rakesh Mehta, IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Delhi, Padamshri Dr. Ram Dayal Munda, MP, Member NAC , Govt. of India and other dignitaries.
A mechanical engineer by profession and began his illustrious career in 1971 in Madhya Pradesh electricity board and has served NTPC since 1980 in various capacities. During his tenure as CMD, he has initiated several strategic and business process changes of major significance viz fuel security, IT enabled facilitation and monitoring of projects and operations; measures for reducing project cycle time.
His initiatives have led NTPC to achieve capacity addition of 3050 MW including 980 MW dedicated for Commonwealth Games; thrust to developing wind and solar based capacity and signing of long term fuel supply agreements with Coal India Limited and GAIL.
NTPC is India’s largest power generation company with an installed capacity of 32,194 MW. The company has presently over 17,000 MW capacity under construction at 17 locations and plans to become a 75 GW company by 2017.
