Three major MOUs signed by NTPC and Chhattisgarh govt.

NTPC Limited signed three major MOUs for setting up  1) 4000 MW Power Project at Lara , 2)International Institute of Information Technology(IIIT) at Chhattisgarh and 3)Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Baloda , Distt Champa-Janjgir today at Raipur in the presence of Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Hon’ble Union Minister of Power, Dr Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Bharatsinh Solanki, Hon’ble Minister of State for Power, Shri Motilal Vora, Hon’ble MP(RS), Dr . Charan Das Mahant, Hon’ble MP(LS), Shri Harishankar Brahma, Secretary, Power,GOI, Shri P.Joy Oommen, Chief Secretary, Govt of Chhattisgarh and Shri R.S Sharma, CMD, NTPC.

The MOU for 4000 MW Lara project was signed by Shri D.S Misra, Principal Secretary (Energy) on behalf of Chhattisgarh Govt and Shri R.S Sharma, CMD on behalf of NTPC and the MOU for IIIT and ITI was signed by Shri M.K Raut,Principal Secretary(Tech. Education & PWD) on behalf of Chhattisgarh Govt and Shri R.S Sharma,CMD on behalf of NTPC. Shri P.Uma Shankar, CMD (REC), Shri R.C Shrivastav, Director (HR), NTPC,Shri I.J Kapoor, Director(Commercial), NTPC ,Shri S.B Agrawal,Regional Executive Director(West), NTPC , Senior officials from Ministry of Power , Chhattisgarh Government and NTPC were also present in the MOU ceremony.

The 4000 MW (5 X 800 MW) Lara project would be located near village Lara, District Raigarh. The beneficiaries of this project would be the States/UTs of Western Region and the project is scheduled to be completed during the 12 th Plan .

The proposed International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) shall be committed to the development of human talent and the availability of IT manpower with special domains. The focus of the activities of the institute may be in the areas of bioinformatics, information and communication technology, Very Large Scale Integration(VLSI) and Embedded Systems, Computer Aided structural engineering etc. IIIT Chhattisgarh shall offer a range of degree programmes as well as Diploma and certificates.

In order to increase employability and ensure availability of Technical Manpower, NTPC in association with Technical Education Department, Govt. of Chhattisgarh have proposed to set-up a new Govt ITI at Village Baloda, Distt Champa-Janjgir under Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. The proposed ITI will have provision for Workshop, Administration block, Hostels etc with Solar power as alternative source power and water supply. The area of proposed ITI would be about 10 acres .

With an installed capacity of 30,644 MW, NTPC is India’s largest power generation company with 15 coal based, 7 gas based and 4 JV power stations. With 18.79% of its installed capacity, NTPC contributes around 28.60% of country’s power generation. The company is poised to become a 50,000 MW Company by 2012.
