Total installed capacity of NTPC has increased to 39,674 MW

The total installed capacity of NTPC has increased to 39,674 MW with the commissioning of the third 500 MW unit of at its Indira Gandhi Super Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar. NTPC presently has over 16000 MW capacity under construction in different parts of the country.

Addressing the employees at the program to celebrate the 37th Raising day of the company Shri P. Uma Shankar, Secretary Power appreciated the performance of NTPC and congratulated them on the achievements. He also presented the Swaran Shakti Awards to the best performing Stations of the company. NTPC Ramagundam bagged the rolling trophy as the best performing NTPC Station. Shri Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD , NTPC and the Directors of NTPC were present with him on the occasion.

Board of Directors of NTPC have also approved an investment for the first stage 1,600 MW of the Lara Super Thermal Power Project in Chhattisgarh recently. The first stage of the Lara Project having two units of 800 MW each is to be implemented at estimated cost of Rs 11,846 crore. The project shall have an ultimate capacity of 4,000 MW. Electricity generated from the Lara project shall be supplied to the states of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Goa.

NTPC has recorded highest ever growth in its history in 2011-12 and operates its units with high levels of capacity utilization and reliability. The company’s robust growth has translated into sound financials and its prudent management has ensured that the fundamentals of the company remain strong and are leveraged for further growth and higher returns.
