NSPCL, Rourkela has won the prestigious "National Safety Concil of India" Safety Awards 2013 for implementing effective management system & procedures and achieving good performance in operation, safety and Health for the assessment period of three years 2010-12. The award has been received by Shri B B Tripathi, BUH-NSPCL Rourkela from Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Hon'ble Union Minister, Mines, Steel and Labour & Employment, Government of India on 27th October, 2014.

NTPC has been awarded Greentech Safety Award - 2014 in Platinum category (Top Most Honour) for its outstanding achievement in Occupational Health and Safety Management System. The award was presented at a function held in Hyderabad on 14th September, 2014. Shri H.M. Gangopadhyay, DGM (Safety) - CC and Shri A.K. Samanta, DGM (Simhadri) received the award on behalf of Corporate Centre. Four NTPC Stations - Simhadri, Singrauli, Talcher (Thermal) & Auraiya received Gold Award and Bongaigaon & Vindhyachal received award in Silver category on the occasion.

National Safety Council, Kerala Chapter Awarded 2nd prize to TELK for Outstanding Safety Performance under the very Large Size Engineering Industries category for the year 2012. This is the first time that TELK has received this award for bringing a new awareness toward safety and formulating its first ever Safety Manual. Sri Arun Kumar Gupta, Managing Director, TELK received this award from Shri K Babu, Hon’ble Minister for Excise & Port, Government of Kerala in a ceremony held in Ernakulam on the occasion of National Safety Day , the 4th March 2013.

Five NTPC power stations – Talcher Thermal, Ramagundam, Simhadri, Kayamkulam and Dadri were awarded for Safety Innovations by the Institution of Engineers. Shri A.C. Chaturvedi, ED(R&R, Safety and CSR) along with representatives of all five projects was also present on the occasion.
