SAPNO KI UDAAN
A Comic Book on Girl Empowerment Mission
Take a walk through the dusty lanes of Sitapur, a small rural town in India, where young girls like Binni, Farheen, and Sarla are learning to dream fearlessly and aim higher than ever before.
In a world where girls are often expected to stay silent and small, Sapno Ki Udaan, a comic book launched by NTPC on its 50th Raising Day, brings their voices to life. Created in collaboration with Amar Chitra Katha, this beautifully illustrated book captures the spirit of NTPC’s flagship Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM), which has already reached over 10,000 girls across the country.
Through the eyes of Binni, Farheen, and Sarla, the comic explores the quiet struggles many rural girls face which confines their aspirations. But thanks to the month-long GEM workshops, these girls begin to uncover their voices, passions, and potential. From speaking confidently in public to excelling in sports, their growth is both inspiring and deeply relatable—showing how a bit of encouragement, opportunity, and support can spark real change.
Sapno Ki Udaan doesn’t just tell a story—it sparks a conversation
It boldly addresses the societal pressures and gender norms that limit girls, while also showing the incredible possibilities that unfold when they are given a chance. With moving storytelling and relatable characters, the book serves as a powerful reminder that when girls are empowered and supported by families, schools, and organizations like NTPC, they don’t just dream—they soar.
