Consequent upon successful commissioning, first part capacity of 162.27 MW out of 230 MW Ettayapuram Solar PV Project at Tamil Nadu, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 12:00 Hrs. of 10.12.2022. 

With this, standalone installed and commercial capacity of NTPC has become 57801.27 MW, while group installed and commercial capacity of NTPC has become 70416.27 MW.

The remaining 67.73 MW of Ettayapuram is expected to be declared operational within the next week.

Regional Executive Director (South), NTPC, Shri Naresh Anand has congratulated the NTPC Team on achieving the milestone and reiterated NTPC’s commitment for renewable energy. He stated that NTPC Southern Region was augmenting the renewable energy capacity with the addition of the first part of the 230MW Solar plant at Ettayapuram, Thoothukudi District, Tamil Nadu.

With the 162.27MW capacity addition of the 230MW Solar Project at Ettayapuram, the total commercial operation of solar capacity in Southern Region has gone up to 644.27 MW. The Ettayapuram Plant is spread over about 900 acres of land and uses about 10.5 Lakh Solar panels, all of Indian origin. Drone-based digital technologies were extensively used during Plant construction, for surveillance and monitoring. The EPC Contractor for the Ettayapuram Project is M/s L&T. 

The power generated from the Plant is being evacuated from NTPC Solar plant to PGCIL’s Tuticorin-II, GIS Substation through a 19 km long, 230kV Transmission Line built by NTPC. Power from the Ettayapuram Solar Plant is supplied to Telangana Discoms.
