Energy Transition and Policy Research (ET&PR) department comes under NTPC Engineering division which focuses on a portfolio approach to clean and green NTPC’s existing energy generation by decarbonization and making these assets environment friendly. The approach includes current fuel switching to low emissions fuels such as biomass, hydrogen, methanol &ammonia as carbon neutral fuel, improved energy efficiency, deployment of current best available and future innovative technologies including CCUS and Energy storage systems. Decarbonization, decentralization, digitization and aatma-nirbharta are the four building blocks of this wing. Equitable and affordable energy access for all to meet economic development objectives is non-negotiable in this transition. At the same time, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability remain the key drivers of this transition. In addition to this, ET&PRwing also undertakes frequent stakeholder consultations in form of conference participation, meeting, and other engagement activities to gauge the market trends as well as associated driving factors. Rapidly evolving energy transition technologies rising demand for clean energy sources and policies are the key enablers for driving market-based investments.

  • Provide solution from concept to commissioning to achieve compliance with New Environmental norms w.r.t Air pollutants.
  • Explore new technologies and possible solutions to reduce carbon footprint to achieve Net Zero by 2070.
  • Policy Advocacy & other related matter with CEA, MoP, MoEF, CPCB, CERC and other agencies.
