The Best Engineered Project MERCOM Award 2023 has been awarded to NTPC for 70MW NTPC Kaymkulam Floating Solar Project on 26.04.2023. Shri SK Ram, GM, Kayamkulam, along with senior executives from RE-Engineering team, received the award from Shri Raj Prabhu, CEO, Mercom India.
The project is installed on brackish water lagoon. The special engineering features are anchoring arrangement by using helical piles and earth anchors and housing of all the electrical equipment, including inverters, transformers, and high tension breakers, on ferro-cement platforms floating on water.
As of now, NTPC has commissioned 262 MW floating solar projects in the country and has 3.2 GW commissioned RE capacity
